At St Catherine’s Independent Nursery, we are fully committed in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by providing an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENCO) is Mrs Emma Rawlinson, this is her sole role and responsibility. Emma is passionate about ensuring all children have the best possible start in life, and she upholds high aspirations for those with additional needs and embeds practices that improve outcomes.
Ofsted Report (October 2022) ‘Staff expertly support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities to succeed in their learning. They quickly identify any gaps in learning and use effective strategies to meet individual learning needs. They work extremely closely with parents and a range of other agencies to ensure that the developmental needs of all children are met. As a result, all children make excellent progress from their starting points.’
Emma holds the following qualifications in SEND –
Special Educational Needs Advanced – Level 4 (Achieving a Higher Distinction)
SENCOs in Early Years – Level 3
Understanding Autism – Level 2
